It was the “Psychology in the Workplace” course at the University of Minnesota that changed Chris Empson’s career trajectory. Originally an economics major, he found industrial and organizational psychology and workplace dynamics particularly compelling. He enjoyed studying the inner workings of companies and the role that legal protections played for workers. With his newfound insights and a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives, he enrolled in Mitchell Hamline School of Law to pursue employment law. As a Law Clerk at Halunen Law, Chris finds great satisfaction in applying his understanding of workplace dynamics to real-world situations and researching the applicable law. Most gratifying is knowing that he is helping others navigate the legal system. Observing “we spend at least half of our waking life at work,” Chris relishes working on a team that gives a voice and achieves justice for those who have experienced illegal actions in their workplace.
A native of Illinois, Chris has adopted the Twin Cities as his new home. He likes the seasonal changes and outdoor activities the area offers, including Frisbee golf. When not busy with school or work, he enjoys spending time with friends and exploring new dining spots around town
